FAQ

Here you will find frequently asked questions. If you cannot find the answer to your question here, please get in touch with us.

Do you have any other questions?

Can I book a camping pitch?

No, the campsite does not have numbered pitches and bookings are not accepted. Simply drive to the campsite and find a free spot. As for the cabins and glamping tents, we recommend booking in advance. You can do so via this website.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Campsite: check-in from 11.00 am, check-out by 11.00 am at the latest. Cabins: check-in from 3.00 pm, check-out by 11.00 am at the latest.

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are allowed on the campsite, provided they are kept on a lead at all times. Dogs are not permitted in the glamping tents or in the Hestestall.

Are there any restrictions on the size of motorhomes and caravans?

Yes. During the high season (15 June – 15 August), we do not accept motorhomes longer than 8 metres or caravans longer than 6 metres (excluding the coupling point). We are a small, friendly campsite with limited manoeuvring space, and this is how we ensure everyone has a pleasant experience. Outside the high season, we are more flexible — please feel free to contact us if you are unsure whether your vehicle will fit.

Is the sauna open to everyone?

The sauna can be booked by all guests (for private use). During the high season, it is only accessible to campsite guests

Is there Wi-Fi at the campsite?

Yes, we have free Wi-Fi at reception and in the communal buildings. The signal may be a bit weaker at the camping pitches and some of the cabins — but perhaps that’s the point. Here, the starry sky, the water and the silence are the main attractions.

Is there electricity at the campsite?

We do not have numbered pitches. There are 20 electricity points on the campsite. You can use a standard plug for these. The price is 65 kr per day.

Why can’t I book a pitch at the campsite?

We don’t have numbered pitches at the campsite. You can pitch your tent or park your caravan wherever you like. Freedom. That’s why it isn’t possible to book a pitch. If you arrive well in advance, you’ll usually be able to find a nice spot.

Am I allowed to have a campfire at the campsite?

From 15 April to 15 September, open fires are prohibited due to the risk of forest fires. In calm weather and with the owner’s permission, it is possible to light a campfire in the fire pit. From 2026, we will have a barbecue area by the water. Provided the wind isn’t too strong, you can light a campfire here in the hanging bowl.

Can I have a barbecue at your place?

Absolutely! There are a few barbecue areas on the campsite. You’re also welcome to bring your own barbecue. Please don’t place it directly on the grass. Make sure there’s a bucket of water nearby.

What is the latest time I can arrive in Fossumsanden?

It always goes smoothly. The campsite is always open. There is no barrier.

When should it be quiet?

There is a quiet period at the campsite between 10.00 pm and 7.00 am.

Will there be other guests there when I book the sauna?

No. You can hire the sauna for 3 hours for your own private use. Enjoy the experience by the waterfall.

Is swimming allowed in Skredvatn?

Absolutely — and we highly recommend it. The water is right next to the campsite; it’s clean and refreshing, and in summer it’s lovely to swim in. There are natural swimming spots along the beach, and some people like to take a morning dip before their coffee. Don’t forget your towel, and perhaps a pair of flip-flops if you want to protect your feet.

Are there a lot of mosquitoes at the campsite?

That varies from year to year. In July, mosquitoes do sometimes appear in the evening. They don’t like the sun or the wind, so we rarely see them during the day. Our campsite is open and situated by the water, so there’s often a gentle breeze that keeps the worst of the mosquitoes at bay. If mosquitoes do turn up, Thermacell devices help to keep them at bay. These are available to buy at or near our campsite.

Where’s the sauna? I didn’t see it last time.

The sauna is located at the rear of the toilet block. It spans the entire width of the building. It is not visible from the campsite.

Do I have to wear swimwear in the sauna?

No, you don’t have to. Just do whatever you feel most comfortable with.

Do you have your own campsite for tents?

Yes, during the high season, part of the campsite (right by the water) is reserved for tents. However, you can park your car next to your tent
