If you want to come by car and boat there are several options.
The boat from Hirtshals (Denmark)
From the Dutch border it is, without delay, about 7.5 hours drive to Hirtshals. The busiest point is Hamburg. Once you pass Hamburg the roads become less and less busy. From Hirtshals the companies
Colorline and
Fjordline sail to Norway. Colorline sails to Kristiansand and Larvik, Fjordline sails only to Kristiansand.
By car from Kristiansand
By car it takes about 3 hours from Kristiansand (about 180 km).
Directions: from Kristiansand, take the E18 towards Oslo. After 26 kilometers take exit 85 towards Birkeland. Continue the road via Birkeland and Åmli to Tjønnefoss. There take the exit to Fyresdal (R355) and continue this road to Hauggrend.
By car from Larvik
From Larvik it is about 2.5 hours drive to Fossumsanden Camping (170 km). There are several ways to reach the campsite.
Our favorite in summer: take the E18 towards Kristiansand. After 553 km take exit 55 towards Drangedal (R38). After Drangedal, go to Vrådal. From Vrådal take the R38 in the direction of Dalen. Take the exit to the left in Krossli (R355). Fossumsanden camping (Hauggrend) is on the right after 6 km.
In winter: Take the E18 in the direction of Kristiansand. After 17 km take exit 49 towards Skien and Porsgrunn. From Skien, follow the 36 to Bø - Seljord - Kviteseit (R41) and Vrådal. From Vrådal take the R38 in the direction of Dalen. Take the turn to the left in Krossli (R355). Fossumsanden camping (Hauggrend) is on the right after 6 km.
By car from Oslo
From Oslo, take the E18 in the direction of Kristiansand. At Drammen exit onto E134 and continue towards Kongsberg, Notodden, Seljord until Brunkeberg. There turn to the R41 and drive via Kviteseid to Vrådal. Then take the R38 in the direction of Dalen. Take the left turn in Krossli (R355). Fossumsanden camping (Hauggrend) is on the right after 6 km.
